Set in the 1800s on the edge of the American wild, The Erl King is about Leora, a young woman from a strict, religious family who runs away from her village into the arms of an ancient woodland god who inhabits the forest. His name is the Erl King and his promise to love her and give her freedom suddenly turns sinister when Leora realizes that he’s had other plans for her all along.

Director Bio
Genevieve is a writer/director with a penchant for stories surrounding empowerment, the female identity, and sexuality across genres. Her style aims to infuse visual components of an exaggerated reality with deep, surprising, and authentic performances. Her previous work includes the Screen Australia and Google-supported digital series NEVERNIGHT – an official adaptation of the New York Times best-selling fantasy novel of the same name. To date, the web series has reached over 240,000 views online. Genevieve is attached to direct her first feature film “THE STRANGE CASE OF EMILY WILKINSON” a psychological thriller set in Australia. Prior to AFI, she completed a BA in Film and Screen Media Production and a BA in Business (majoring in Advertising) in Australia. Her commercial work includes brands like SUBWAY, Village Roadshow Theme Parks, and High Street Rentals. She also has her sights set on television directing in the future.
