SYNOPSIS:
In Genghis Khan’s last days, an encounter with a wizard sends him to the moon. Just as the medieval anti-hero thinks he’s made his greatest conquest, he finds himself on a spiritual quest realizing the absurd clash between one man’s need and the silence of the universe.
ABOUT THE FILM:
Genghis Khan Conquers the Moon is Kerry Yang’s MFA thesis film, produced at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2015, under the mentorship of USC faculty members Doe Mayer, Michael Fink and Bruce Block. The film is uniquely ambitious in scope, and could not have been made without the generous collaboration of award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor Gene Warren III, who assisted the crew in VFX photography and the construction of purpose-built scale-model miniatures. The film contains almost 100 visual effects shots and took over two years to complete. The film was the 2014 recipient of an Irving Lerner Endowment Fund and a FOX VFX Fellowship Endowment Fund.
